Ben Broughton
Dear Copper Community,
I’ve been fortunate to call both Copper Mountain and Frisco home for the past 26 years. In an area which has undergone extensive and rapid growth over that time, I’m excited to continue to play a part in serving our community. As a homeowner in Anaconda, as well as the owner and managing broker of Real Estate at Copper Mountain, I’ve proudly served on my HOA board and the Copper Mountain Resort Association, along with the Copper Metro District. It’s an exciting dynamic, and one which I feel we as elected boards have immense responsibility and potential to help. It’s a real opportunity to have a positive, meaningful impact, and to help our neighbors.
There are several challenges facing our district today, future development, our aging infrastructure, and the potential for wildland fires to name a few. I have a proven track record of finding solutions, and doing so in a fiscally responsible manner. I’m proud to have been a part of the creation of the Summit Fire and EMS district several years ago, along with serving on the inaugural board, which under Chief Davis has taken steps to create a new and separate Wildland Fire Division. Another challenge is the need for road improvements throughout the resort, which impacts both the day to day operational as well as capital budgets of our district. We need to work with the county to make the necessary funds available for not only improvements, but also an improved plowing and maintenance schedule. While the copious amount of snow this season has been great to enjoy, it’s exposed the current agreement as woefully inadequate to meet the needs of our community.
I’m proud of my 18+ years of experience as a Director on the Copper Mountain Metro District board. I’m a team player who has a proven record of working with others to determine the best path forward for those we represent, and I am not afraid to make decisions that I feel best represent the needs of our taxpayers. I hope my previous contributions to this and other boards, along with the personal relationships I’ve been fortunate to forge with many of you in the past, better explain who I am and what I can bring to the organization than a couple of typed responses. I promise to continue to further the work we started together several years ago, and hope you give me the opportunity to do so.
